Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about French as a foreign language courses

Courses cover a wide range of professional and social situations: oral and written communication, meetings, understanding documents, business vocabulary, writing emails, speaking, negotiating. Depending on the business sector and needs, specific modules can be added: medical French, legal, HR, finance, marketing.

At BTL, there is no such thing as a standardized course. On the contrary, our French as a foreign language courses are co-constructed on the basis of a detailed analysis of each learner's skills and objectives.

It all depends on your starting level, the pace of your training and how regularly you learn. On average, a complete beginner could reach B1 level with approximately 150 to 200 hours of training, spread over several weeks or months, depending on the format chosen (intensive or regular).

A course alternates between a variety of practical activities (dialogues, role-playing, role-playing), linguistic input (vocabulary, grammar, structures) and contextualized material (professional documents, videos, emails). Content is adapted to each learner's level, sector and objectives, to guarantee immediate application.

Free courses lack structure, human interaction and personalized follow-up. To learn French effectively in a professional context, the right training is essential: customized support, a job-related program, measurable progress and recognized certification. It's an investment in efficiency and concrete business results.

The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) defines six levels of proficiency, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (expert). Each level corresponds to concrete skills in comprehension, expression and interaction. These benchmarks can be used to structure courses and measure progress.

Certifications (CLOE, BRIGHT, LILATE) enable you to officially validate the language level achieved and have it recognized by employers. They are useful for internal career development, and for proving a level when moving to a new job. They attest to operational skills in a professional context.
